Karen is a multidisciplinary artist concentrating on ceramic work. She makes functional pottery both by hand and on a potter’s wheel, decorative pieces, and handmade ceramic jewelry. As a former highschool art teacher, Karen has made pottery since 1976, as well as many other art forms, including painting and drawing, sculpture, printmaking and theatrical set painting. Karen began concentrating on ceramics after retirement from teaching in 2007. She’s been selling pottery at the market since late 2019. Her work is also available at the Art Gallery of Algoma, and from her home studio at 29 Lansdowne Ave. Products include mugs, plates, bowls, serving dishes and planters, as well as the occasional sculpture, plus earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
